For Dude.

I remember the night we met. Oh, what a night.

It was a party, a friend of a friend. I got dragged there, so did you. The whole night passed and then suddenly, you asked me to dance. The rest as they say, is history.

Who was responsible?
Shorty, the guy whose house it was, whom we had never met before and who is a good friend now?
Was it your best man, Tatt Boy? Who forced you to come, telling you it wouldn't be so bad?
Nando? He called me relentlessly, till I finally agreed to stop by with a friend.
Vinx - the guy who actually introduced us, seconds before our first dance?

Whoever it was, all of you - thank you!!

'Coz that night, I met someone I chose to spend my life with. I met a guy with a heart of gold, who loves me and loves me and just when I think it's not possible, he'll love me some more.

Every so often, I look at you and feel a little giddy headed. What a precious man you are and how special must the Big guy upstairs think I am, to give you to me. I remember that night and am thankful that you chose to spend the rest of your life with me too.
(truth must be told, there are several other times when I look at you and want to throw everything but the kitchen sink at you - but let's leave that for a later post. = D )

My prayer for you is one that is close to my heart.
May you see, every day, how amazing you can be and may you never stop reaching for the stars. May your honesty, simplicity and good heartedness, always be the core of you, as they are now.
And may you always know, how very very much, this girl loves you.

Happy Birthday dude.
*hands over heart in a gift wrapped box*

Luv 'ya.

2010. Damn!!

H'lo sundaris. Or lovelies, if you're feeling English.

Hope you've all had a fab start to 2010, with an even better festive season behind you.
Where on earth did the decade go? Goodness me, I feel rather dinosaur-ish all of a sudden.

2009 was our year - totally. We struggled a bit, a few ups here, the occasional downs there..but we had each other and that made each day a cakewalk. Dude, you rock.

The year ended with a bang. We re-did our place and all of a sudden, our house became a home. I never realized what it lacked, till we added it. Nothing mucho grande, just a few personal touches here and there and we were both ever so pleased.

My folks were here, for all of a glorious month - which explains my absence from my corner. I feel as if this is when they really got to bond with dude and vice versa. It was heart warming to see them together.
They left last week. *sigh*
I'm terribly close to my folks, so I'm still rather blue : (
Great memories, good times. Baby steps and all that.

But 2010 is here and it looks good. It started on a great note and you know what they say; what you do on the 1st, you'll be doing all year long.
I spent it with friends and loved ones, counting my blessings and being thankful for many little surprises.
Hope you did too.

Happy New Year once again - may this year be all you hope it to be.
Till later.

Leaving on a jet plane..

..but I know I'll be back in a week.
You'd think being an only child, I'd be used to being alone.
I'm going to be on a week long business trip. *sigh*
There is a bit of me that's looking forward to it though. The girly bit is looking forward to the hotel rooms and the prettiness and the hot chocolate by the bed. And oooh, not to mention the ginormous bathrooms with great prospects for soaking in hot, scented, blissful baths. (Pats, you've sold me on this idea!!) I shall enjoy the packing - choosing outfits, jewellery and matching shoes. Yes, girls are like that.
The adventurous bit of me is looking forward to meeting new people, seeing the new office set up, giving my first set of trainings. Catching a quick cuppa with friends at famed local coffee shops, walking the streets for the hidden cheap shoppers paradise, visiting the restaurants, well known for their curries, tikkas and samosas.
I'm waiting to get on the back of a bike, driven by a girl I've never met before, but have known for 2 years. Oddly enough, I trust her.
The silent bit of me is looking forward to some alone time. Reading, soaking in previously mentioned glorious tub- just chilling. Luckily, the silent bit of me is amongst the smallest.
The friend in me though, is waiting to get back and plan Chili's Hen Night. Hear about the outfits, see the invitations and calm the stray and frazzled 'bride to be'nerves.
I shall not see Pats before she leaves for her trip and I shall only meet her after 2 solid weeks. I shall miss her.
I shall miss morning coffee in the office with Zee.
I shall miss e-mails chats with Pooh girl and bursting into brief giggling fits.
But most of all, the Rose in me will miss dude. It's not going to be easy to fall asleep without that familiar shoulder under my head. I shall miss the morning coffee and drive, the peace I feel when I see him at the end of the day. I shall even miss playing Gears of War with him. (yes, this is recent. It is, but a bloody game.) I shall miss the dinners, the sofa, the hugs and the kisses.
Yes, I know it's only a week, but I'm thankful for all the things I'm going to miss.
I am blessed : )
Till later.

It's been a while

Hello again everyone.

It's been more than a month since I last blogged. Lots of excuses comes to mind-work, home, friends, family, life in general.
But since this is my honest space, I am suddenly overcome with a bout of honesty. I just didn't feel like writing. Opining. Emoting. Anything.
Not coz I was unhappy or troubled or anything...I just didn't want to.
Like the flu, I think it has now passed.

For those of you who missed me *hug* you are too kind.
For those of you who thought I was a super lazy blogger *grin* you ain't seen nothing yet.

Lots of bits and pieces happened, one of the biggest 'bits' was that dude and I celebrated our first anniversary. I'm still smiling at our weekend get-away, the flower delivery at work, the gifts, the hearts all over the walls at home, the confetti on the floor. It was lovely!

We play Xbox games together. Even cricket in the house. We love to watch NCIS.
'Nights in' almost always win over 'nights out'.
And no, it's not coz we're getting old and boring as a lot of people may think.

It's just nice to married to a friend. Someone you can be you with.
I'm lucky like that. :)

My Hustler

So my dude plays basketball. He loves it with a passion.

He's part of a team called 'The Hustlers' and they play in several tournaments during the year. They're REALLY good. They play ball every week, but in season, they practice thrice a week and then, play their normal weekly game.

Yes, sometimes it's an overdose, but he loves it so much, I have no choice but to love it with him. *sigh* The things you do for love.

To be fair, they all love the game, some more than others. I've watched them this season, play their worst and their best. I've been watching them for years now and I totally enjoy it. This season started a bit rough, though they won all their games. But in the last 2, the boys have picked up pace, brought their games and totally kicked ass. Nope, there's no polite way to say it. *grin*

Tomorrow, they play the finals. They've worked so hard for this over the last 6 months - they can each almost taste it. They want it. They own it. And they deserve it.

As for dude, well I can see what he does for the love of basketball. I've seen him mature so much as a player over the last few years. And you know the stuff you watch in all those sports movies? The pep talks that the coaches give, the lessons you're supposed to learn on court and all that?
It's real.

He forgets his worries on court. His moves are all a part of him, there is no defining line. It's all so fluid - his pace, his move, the ball, the speed...it all merges into one, near effortless motion. It's amazing to watch.
I've seen him overcome his differences with one or two other, rougher teams and I've watched him 'be the bigger man'. I've seen him harness his temper and direct that energy towards going for a shot and making it. I've seen him swallow his pride and take a hit, sometimes deserved, sometimes faulted.
I've seen my college boy become a man on court.

Any of you who have sports jocks in your lives, will know how much this influences their normal behaviour and how much it means to see them succeed. It's your victory as much as theirs. His excitement when he tells me about the game, his moves, the plays, the team - it's the same joy I experience when I write a good piece, take a good picture, read a good book. It's a special feeling that makes you happy and proud and joyful all at the same time - and he shares it with me.

Basketball is a big part of who he is. It's amazing to watch him play. This is one of my best shots of him. (Dude's the guy with the ball) I'm rooting for dude and the Hustlers tomorrow. Do say a prayer for our boys.
I'll let you know what happens!!
